The Department of Occupational & Environmental Safety & Health (OESH) at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a highly motivated professional in the field of OESH for an academic staff position.

This is a full-time renewable nine-month appointment commencing in August 2018. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Details:
We seek demonstrated commitment to diversity, both cultural and across learning styles. All instructional staff at UW-Whitewater may be required to teach online and hybrid courses, weekend classes, and/or evening classes. They may also be required to serve the university and local community in a variety of modalities, including leading Learning Communities, mentoring students, and providing development opportunities for colleagues, schools, and community groups. Instructional staff will be active participants in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have a master degree from a regionally accredited institution in an environmental safety and health or closely related field, including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Environmental and occupational law/policy
  • Risk management and loss control
  • Environmental health
  • Engineering
  • Physical sciences
  • Public health
  • Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are essential

Desired Qualifications:

Candidates with professional experience in OESH are preferred. Professional certifications are also desirable (CSP, CHMM, REM, ARM, CIH, etc.).

  • Public and professional service

The new academic staff member is expected to teach courses in one or more of the following areas:
  • Environmental and occupational law/policy
  • Risk management and loss control
  • Occupational and environmental health
  • Public and personal safety
  • Alcohol and other drugs
